Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda’s largest protected area, spans over 3,800 square kilometers in the northwest region of the country. The park is named after the spectacular Murchison Falls, where the powerful Victoria Nile squeezes through a narrow gorge only 7 meters wide before plunging 43 meters below, creating a breathtaking display of nature’s force.
The park’s diverse landscapes include savannah, riverine forests, and wetlands, supporting a rich variety of wildlife such as elephants, lions, giraffes, hippos, crocodiles, and over 450 bird species. Visitors can enjoy thrilling game drives, boat cruises along the Nile, and guided nature walks.
Murchison Falls offers a unique combination of awe-inspiring scenery and abundant wildlife, making it one of Uganda’s top safari destinations. The park’s accessibility and natural beauty attract travelers seeking both adventure and relaxation in East Africa’s wild heart.
